Finally we were able to meet with the acclaimed sexiest and fastest growing Ika nollywood superstar in the United States in his Maryland home and conducted this interview.
Ika Weekly:- Good morning Mr. Davis and thank you so much for granting us this interview.
Best Davis:- Good morning my brother. First of all, let me say that I don’t like to be called Mr. Just call me Best or                                                  if you want to be official, you can call me Best Davis. I really don’t like having titles attached to my name.
Ika Weekly:- We understand that you are the sexiest and fastest growing nollywood superstar from Ika land here in      the United States.
Best Davis:- Em……I don’t know what that is all about, I em.. I have seen publications about it and… I hear people talk about it but, well em…, I owe it all to God almighty.
Ika Weekly:- How long have you been acting?
Best Davis:- I started acting from a very tender age but those were all an act of push. I really realized what acting was in 1997 when I did my first movie titled “Deadly Fate”. It was an independently produced movie.
Ika Weekly:- How did you get a role in that movie?
Best Davis:- It is funny. I was in Nigeria at the time and I went to visit a friend, on getting to his house, I met people setting up for a movie shoot, they were using his house as one of the locations, I was curious, I asked for the producer and went to talk to him, I did not even ask him anything, I just said “ I would like to act” he looked at me and asked me to see him later that day. Just to cut it short, I met with him and he auditioned me for the role of a doctor and I got it.
Ika Weekly:- How was the experience?
Best Davis:- Oh my God, it was so different from what I was used to, that was the first time I did a professional acting and I enjoyed it.
Ika Weekly:- Did you do any other movies after that?
Best Davis. Em…… No. For some personal reasons, I quit acting after that first one and did not think I would go back to it again. After three years, I heard of an audition for a TV soap, ha ha ha ha. It is interesting how things work. I went for the audition, we were 15 guys that came for the audition for a role and as God would have it, I got the role and guess what, it was a doctor’s role as well.
Ika Weekly:- How did you get back into the movie industry?
Best Davis:- A producer friend wanted me to accompany him to an audition for a movie here in the United States, when we got there, I auditioned for a role, a minor role though, I did not get the role but got a different role which was a supporting lead. That was the very first movie I did here in the US and it is titled “Far From Home”. This movie was the second nollywood movies ever produced in the US, I remember the first one being “Through The Fire”.
Ika Weekly:- Do you make friends while shooting movies?
Best Davis:- Yes I do make friends while shooting especially those I have never worked with before.
Ika Weekly:- Is it true that your closest friend in the movie industry is Desmond Elliot?
Best Davis:- Interesting, em…………. I don’t know how people get their information, Desmond is a very good and close friend, he is one of the guys I have worked with and he is so different.
Ika Weekly:- We learnt you directed a movie that was just recently shot featuring Ini Edo and Pascal Atuma.
Best Davis:- That is true, as a matter of fact, we still have a couple of scenes to do and hope to finish them as soon as one of the cast returns from her trip to Atlanta.
Ika Weekly:- We thought you are just an actor, do you direct too?
Best Davis:- That was the first movie I directed though I assisted in directing “double Shift”  my main thing is acting and I love doing it.
Ika Weekly:- Do you plan on moving to Hollywood?
Best Davis:- Hum…Hollywood. Hollywood is every actor’s dream. It is good to take it one step at a time though. I would like to stick with Nollywood, make a difference, help take it to the level it should be before heading towards nollywood.
Ika Weekly:- If you get a call from a hollywood casting director, won’t you go?
Best Davis:- I would say, it depends. Most likely I would honor it for some reasons.
Ika Weekly:- Do you ever think of producing a movie some time?
Best Davis:- Em….. em. I think that there should be areas of specialization, every body should not be producers just as every body should not be actors but if there is some thing that I need to prove and can only be done by producing a movie, then yes I will. My ultimate goal is to help build nollywood.
Ika Weekly:- Is it true that producers and directors would want to sleep with girls before casting them for roles in movies?
Best Davis:- Em….. you know….. that is personal, I mean individual differences. I am not going to answer for the producers and the directors because I go on set, do my acting and leave, whatever happens before and after production is non of my business.
Ika Weekly:- Do you think it is happening?
Best Davis:- I can’t tell you yes or no. I mean, I hear people say it but I have not seen it happen so I don’t know.
Ika Weekly:- Besides acting, what else do you do?
Best Davis:- I usually don’t say what I do, the only people that know what I do are those that know me, so if you know me, you will know what else I do.
Ika Weekly:- Are you married?
Best Davis:- Oh yes. I am married to the most wonderful lady in the world, Stephanie Davis
Ika Weekly:- How are you able to act knowing that you are married?
Best Davis:- First of all, I do not cross boundries, I know my limits and secondly, my wife is so very supportive, I have never seen a lady like her, she is 100% behind my acting career.
Ika Weekly:- How does she feel when you travel for productions?
Best Davis:- Like I said, she is totally supportive, I have travelled to Nigeria two times for productions and she was fine with them. She even wants me to do more movies ha ha ha ha ha ha ha……..
Ika Weekly:- Once again thank you for granting us this audience and please we will call upon you again some other time.
Best Davis:- You are so welcome, any time.

CONSERVATION AND PRESERVATION BY BEST DAVIS

CONSERVATION AND PRESERVATION BY BEST DAVISBY BEST DAVIS
The differentiation between conservation and preservation comes from the understanding of the concepts of both terms and their meanings. These terms are interchangeable used and even though they have some similarities in their concepts, they encompass and reveal different meanings. Conservation deals with the precautionary steps that are taken to prevent damages from happening to materials, this is a preventive method to ensure that damages that have not occurred do not occur. On the other hand, preservation deals with procedure of ensuring that repairs are made to the materials that have already been damaged.

Conservation depicts the protection of the environment and being able to manage the resources as well as being able to utilize the managed resources. Preservation is strictly an act that exhibits complete or total protection of the environment from being touched or utilized, it allows the environment to be left in their natural state.
I do believe that humans can harvest forest resources in an environmentally friendly way and I am inclined to that belief. It is one thing to harvest the resources and another thing to do it in a friendly way. I think that as far as the harvested resources are replenished, they will not go into extinction. Take for instance, we have vast forest with mighty trees, if the trees are not harvested, we will not have wooden chairs, beds and even planks to build our houses, most of these forest resources are used to benefit humans by way of food, medicines, essential materials etc.

It is good to know that this area of the Bridger Teton National Forest can provide oil and gas that will offset our dependence on foreign sources but it will be useless and unbeneficial if it is not mined, it is like having food on the table and still crying of hunger.

Education

Education

Education can be said to be a very important and valuable commodity without any iota of doubt in relaying the success of life in all ramifications.
Looking back to the past years or even centuries, it is evident that education has played a very vital role in the lives of individuals and countries alike. A lot of tremendous development and achievement in different areas can be traced back to the course and acquisition of education; for instance, the placement of people into leadership roles in different spheres of life is attributed to their bank of knowledge derived from educational pursuit.
Because of the importance and need of education in improving human intelligence, sensitivity, adaptation and identity, the Government had to introduce motivating factors to encourage people to be educated. So many individuals in the past may have looked at education as a thing for a certain group of people who have the right to acquire such education. Quite a number of individuals felt relegated to the background because of the feeling and notion that was registered in them about the right to education, they had the perception that only the financially privileged ones have the right to get education. Generally speaking, I believe that everyone has the right to education as far as one is human and has the ability and understanding of basic concept, the idea and perception that only the affluent can have access to quality education should not be an impediment for anyone who desires to be educated because it is an erronous idea or belief.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                A critical look into the needs and importance of education sparked an interest in our Government prompting a decision to extend the possibility of individuals being able to acquire education by way of motivation, such as scholarships, grants and financial aid. Consequently, people began to embrace the idea of being educated as it is offered on a platter of gold; therefore, the worries of not being able to afford education were overtaken by the wind of easy access made possible through the government motivations. People realized that being educated add color to them by boosting their personality and image, a good number of people decided to take advantage of the government offer, some got education by means of scholarship, some through financial aid and some even went as far as getting educational loans in order to fulfill their desire for education. According to Barack Obama, “we have an obligation and a responsibility to be investing in our students and our schools. We must make sure that people who have the grades, the desire and the will but not the money can still get the best education possible". Having understood what being educated can afford, people took into consideration, the act of choosing educational path by being conscious to studies and maintaining consistency although it was one of the different taxes that one has to go through. Nevertheless, the hectic ness of staying focused and remaining consistent was disintegrated as interest has been genuinely sparked up. In the same way, according to Brainy Quote, http//www.brainyquote.com/words/ed/education 158399.html, education is the act or process of educating; the result of educating, as determined by the knowledge skill, or discipline of character, acquired; also the act or process of training by a prescribed or customary course of study or discipline; as am education for the bar or the pulpit; he has finished his education.
The general concept of education will not be complete without a concise explanation of what it is all about. Suffice me to say that the word education is derived from a latin word e-ducere which means to lead out. There might be a thousand and one explanation of the phrase "to lead out" but I do know that there is no one particular definition of education, everyone will not totally agree to a specific definition as it could mean different things to different people. One of the many definitions of education is the process of teaching in order to develop a body of information which is regarded as knowledge, skills and even character. Education purposes the teaching of how to live a life by developing minds and equipping them to deal with reality; for example, it is impossible to understand and abide by the laws of a land without knowing what they are and the act of knowing what they are is called learning and learning is categorized as part of education.
Acquisition of knowledge and skills are embedded in education as they are derived through the process of training and development. Accordingly, preparation for life is of paramount importance in the sense that, the kind of training an individual receives will determine what that individual will become. In the world of intellectualism, becoming a certain professional is dependent on the reception of a particular training putting into consideration that there should be utmost concentration in the field or area of pursuit. For example, if an individual makes a projection and looks into the future for what to come, with the mind of becoming a medical doctor in the next 15 years, that individual would have to make adequate plans in order to actualize that vision. Making plans entails getting things in order and setting them in place as a matter of priority. Having the mind or vision of becoming a medical doctor requires education, which means one has to undergo the necessary training for becoming a doctor. One of the trainings is the act of studying for the development of the traits, interest and bundle of information one may have, the process of going through this is a part of education, so one would need to attend a high school, college and medical school before proceeding to take the board exams. With all these plans in place, one can easily look up and say; yes I am ready to become that medical doctor.
Furthermore, times are changing and it is imperative to change with time to avoid being left behind. If you take a walk down memory lane, you will discover that so many things that used to obtain in those days no longer obtain in the present day world; there has been an extinction of so many old practices. For example, people used to make use of lantern before the invention of electricity which everyone now uses. Presently, you cannot find anyone still in the primitive life of lantern usage; because people have changed with time and are still changing. Before the invention of automobiles, those who had the where withal used to ride on bicycles and on the other hand they would walk for the simple fact that they don't have mobility. The evolution of education has given rise to massive and radical change in the society today, a good number of people want to flow with the trend of things when it comes to change and that would account for the interest in educational pursuit There are so many activities that impart knowledge positively. As the saying goes "knowledge is power", and when one is knowledgeable about an idea or topic, it makes it easier for that one to explain or expatiate on the topic. If one is dependent on one's knowledge alone, it might not be satisfactory in the course of educational pursuit, and therefore, there has been a design for individuals to conduct researches and unfold information that can be developed. There are different ways of conducting research, first, it could be the online method where an individual goes online and searches for information based on what people have experienced and written down, this information can be brooded upon and developed into some more enlightenment. Secondly, it could be inter-personal method, by this, one would go to individuals and ask them questions based on whatever thing or idea one is working on and their answers would act as basis for one's research results, unlike the online information that have been filtered, the inter-personal information are still raw and would need a lot of development in order to make sense to people. So having expatiated on the need and importance of being educated, it is ideal to talk about the types of education. There are basically two types of education namely, formal and informal education. In the years past, people acquired education by means of informal method which has to do with outside classroom experience giving rise to personalization of knowledge, people learnt from others based on their experiences, if an individual was involved in a certain event and had an experience from it, others would learn from that individual, thereby having an idea on how to tackle that kind of situation. Formal education has to do with people congregating in groups with one person as an instructor; the instructor teaches the others based on the prepared lessons and topics. So many people might not have the ability of going to a traditional school for education; there has been a developed easy way of acquiring education without having to go to the classroom environment. Distance learning was introduced to help people who cannot attend the traditional classroom for lessons, they can learn in some other various ways, either by correspondence or online, with all these in place, there should not be an excuse for not being educated.
Just like hard work, education has benefits that go with it. Firstly, education makes provision for individual reputation, brings about exposure to intellects, as the saying goes, "iron sharpens iron" the coming together of intellects makes it possible for them to share their experiences and learn from each other, such forums can only be made by educated folks leaving out the uneducated ones, that is one of the reasons one should strive to get involved with education. It makes for versatility, better employment and financial stability. Being educated takes away illiteracy from an individual and empowers such individual to stand out in the midst of many, not only standing out, such individual will be versatile in so many areas of life thus giving him or her an edge in the labor market. result of being able to support one's family and shine as an intellectual guru.
Finally, there is no gain saying that being educated will make for a better paying job, intellectual stability and security thereby creating financial stability and eliminate inferiority complex which will yield a profitable
